Objective
The Country Coordinator shall lead CBM’s establishment in Papua New Guinea as an important actor in Disability Inclusive Development.
Main tasks
Country Office Management
- Actively manage and support a tri-partite relationship between Regional Office, CBM Member Association(s) and Country Office
- Establish and lead a small, efficient and motivated country office team
- Act as the main contact point for the Regional Office and CBM partners in PNG on CBM support related concerns
- Make recommendations to the South East Asia & Pacific Regional Office (SEAPRO) with regard to future support strategies for Papua New Guinea
Programme Management
- Lead CBM’s Country Programme in Papua New Guinea
- Support CBM supported projects in planning, management, implementation and monitoring of CBM supported activities
- Provide/facilitate capacity building activities to CBM supported projects to address weaknesses identified
- Support the restructuring of CBM support to work through (a) strategic partnership(s)
- Provide regular reports to SEAPRO on important developments in PNG and relevant developments in the CBM fields of work
- Support existing funding agreements and ensure that the projects are carried out in compliance with CBM and or CBM co-funding requirements
Public Relations
- Liaise and network with important stakeholders in PNG (local and international) and represent CBM in the country
- Identify potential future partnerships and support potential partners in developing proposals for support through CBM, including legally contracted designated funding (LCDF)
- Upon request, help partners to provide Human Interest Stories and provide input/content for the CBM webpage
- Upon request, organize and accompany visits of SEAPRO, MAs and donors
- Support and foster synergies in the work of CBM partners and between CBM partners and other organizations
Professional Profile and Requirement
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in development work, including overseas experience in a developing country
- University degree in Development Studies, Business Administration, Social Sciences or related issues. An advanced university degree would be an asset
- Good financial and management skills
- Experience in project/programme management
- Experience in donor relations and coordination with stakeholders from different background
- Proven experience in grant management of legally contracted designated funding (LCDF)
- Knowledge of working on disability issues, or with other marginalised groups
- Good reporting skills
- Proven good organisational and coordination skills as well as a high level of autonomy and flexibility
- Working knowledge of English (both oral and written), knowledge of Pidgin-English would be an asset
