Laudato Si’ Eco-Village _ GMG2016

GCCM is excited to be hosting the Laudato Si’ Eco-Village during this year’s World Youth Day Youth Festival in Krakow, Poland, July 26-29.

The festival will be characterized by workshops, exhibitions, and artistic and cultural performances under the theme “Merciful to God’s creation!” Our hope: to inspire participants to learn about, celebrate, and bring Laudato Si’ to life in their lives and in their communities.

We will be tweeting using the hashtag #LiveLaudatoSi so that you can see how the encyclical is coming to life in Krakow!

Tuesday, July 26:

– 12:00-5:00 PM Laudato Si Eco-Village open at Park Krowoderski (see map)

The Laudato Si Eco-Village will include:

  • Exhibits to highlight the ecological realities around the globe, the Church’s teachings on care for creation, and green solutions. Interested in exhibiting? See more details here.
  • Green Sacred Space to reflect and pray on themes of caring for creation. Guided meditative walks and outdoor prayers spaces will provide a chance for pilgrims to rest in the beauty of creation. You’ll also have a chance to leave a prayer…and take a prayer for creation at our beautiful Climate Prayer tree.
  • Advocacy station with a photo opportunity to share how you will #LiveLaudatoSi and other activities to take actions for the earth.

Wednesday, July 27:

– 12:00-10:00 PM Laudato Si Eco-Village open at Park Krowoderski (see map)

2:00-6:00 PM Laudato Si Youth Animators Training 
Location: St.Hedwig the Queen. (See map)

This training will inspire and equip Catholic youth leaders to bring Laudato Si to life in their communities. Participants will have the opportunity to gain essential skills, network with other committed youth, and help us launch our new Youth Laudato Si Animators network. Snacks will be provided. Registration required. Apply to join the training here.

7:00-10:00 PM Laudato Si Concert

A celebratory event of the first anniversary of Laudato Si to express our concern and commitment for creation through song, dance, poetry, and art. See more details here

Thursday, July 28:

12:00-5:00 PM Laudato Si Eco-Village open at Park Krowoderski (see map)

2:00-4:00 PM Workshop “Sharing eco-testimonies and commitments to action” 
Location: St.Hedwig the Queen. (See map)

Get inspired by youth from around the globe who are taking action on climate change in their communities. We’ll then break out cafe-style to meet others concerned about ecological issues and what is happening in our own communities.

Friday, July 29:

2:00-4:00 PM “Young Catholics Living Laudato Si ” gathering
Location: St.Hedwig the Queen. (See map)

How can you take action for creation? In this interactive workshop we’ll explore concrete ways you can make a difference for the earth and for our brothers and sisters most vulnerable to climate change.

Please note that the Laudato Si Eco-Village and workshops do not interfere with the main World Youth Day events
